My life is an open book – for some the book has just got more pages

It’s a fecking celebration or why I didn’t have the best party ever juuni 25, 2008

Rubriigid: Imedemaa, Pidune — Hannes @ 11:28 e.l.

Hi everyone, it’s me again and this time I have a special announcement – I have reached my 10 000th view, but nevertheless, I am not going to make a big fuss, just wanted to write some random thoughts down from St. John’s day.

  • Honestly, Marie, thank you! I haven’t felt so good talking to a person, who actually can do it in a manner that I not more depressed after, I really needed that.
  • I think that Kwami was left with a really strange view of Estonian youth, but eh, the latter part of the evening was at least fun. For some of us at least (no pun intended :D )
  • Jon, sorry for being somewhat a prick on Monday
  • The first few hours were a whirlpool of sadness and the streets, thanks Mike for cheering me up somewhat. I hate you for being so straightforward
  • I discovered that Mike is right, but I don’t want him to be so I’m probably going to ignore his advice again and fall down the same cliff again
  • Oh come on, how hard is it to understand the term “I’ll be back in three” ?
  • For anyone who still doesn’t understand, it doesn’t mean that “I’m going to sleep on the corner of the street and you should come and look for me in 30 seconds”
  • No comments on the statements of Kaspar which were proved wrong, sadly.
  • Marie has a dark side in oh so many ways. Honestly :D
  • It is quite usual that I’m so tired in the morning that I start to talk about welding and gouache in the same sentence. Well done, eh ?
  • The Streets are just perfect listening when feeling blue.
  • Marie’s neighbours are cool
  • I’m occasionally a complete idiot…

Sorry for having a sad mood, I really honestly cannot help myself, hope I didn’t ruin it for everyone else

And there’s nothing I can do, or why the weekend was so utterly great juuni 3, 2008

Rubriigid: Imedemaa, Pidune, väitlus — Hannes @ 6:27 p.l.

Hi again, all of you who have bothered to tune in on my blog again, it’s once again time to write, this time about the weekend and a bit about something else perhaps.

But first of all there is a question, one that Ott asked me yesterday: why on god’s green earth do I blog? There are many good reasons to be honest. First of all it makes me cool and popular or even if it doesn’t it still gives me a chance to slander all the other folks you guys know. Then there’s the point that I sometimes have an excessive amount of time and don’t actually know what to do with it, as strange as it may seem. The past few days, since I got back from Tartu, I have done literally nothing. There hasn’t been a person around and I’ve just slept. What a waste it seems in retrospect, but oh well, no-one, and by that I mean absolutely everybody, has taken my call for the last few days. Mike has his cell stuck to his bag for some strange reason and I don’t really know what all the others have been up to. Nevertheless, there are still some more advantages to blogging. A big pro is the fact that I can write the text in metaphors and pretend it talks about something it doesn’t and then hold my breath and hope that the people, who are meant to understand it or be left in the darkness, actually fulfil their role in the process. And perhaps the last and also the most important reason in blogging is the fact that when things turn sour, it is always nice to look back on the sunnier times.

The weekend was quite simply amazing: the drive to Tartu, the debate, the topics, the party, the day after, the ride home. It was everything the same tournament wasn’t last year, because as most of you know, the previous one ended with a great disaster, but yeah, this year was all good. It was fun to drive to Tartu, in Tõnis’ car, which was meant to accommodate a person, but instead we forced it to hold five. It was indeed great fun arguing with Tõnis over some very trivial things.

By the time we got to the meeting spot on Toomemägi, we were already a bit late. The first thing I saw was a bunch of people, then Meeli and then came Karl, who was broken and not simply broken, but “Hannes from last year’s võss”-broken. During the day he became more sober, or in that matter, more drunk… well he certainly wasn’t broken anymore. The topics were extremely nice: “Estonia should invade Latvia”; “Beijing should be boycotted” and finally “TEC is better than TTG”. Of these debates we won unfortunately only one, the last one. But we gave the opponents a hell of a battle in every round. In the end we were the first team in terms of speaker points, and here’s the best part: I was the number one speaker by a wide margin.

The party was very cool, lots of alcohol, lots of great people and lots of nice activities. Activities included swimming, sunbathing, drinking, joking etc. It was quite simply the best gathering of people I’ve been to in months. After we finished by the river, we headed towards Siim’s place, but we never actually stayed there, because we had agreed on going to Tõrvandi and the bus was about to leave. Tõrvandi was also chill, a great Sauna, some rum-coke and nice company – it was kind of my version of heaven, sort of.

The next day was also brilliant. Me, Meeli and Suido just sat on some grass and did nothing. It reminded me, how good it is to do that sometimes. Just forget the things that might be bothering you, forget everything that might scare you later. Just enjoy the moment and quite honestly I did it with all my heart.

The bus-ride home was also a joy to behold. It was not the usual bad bus-ride, it wasn’t the ufo-bus- but time still flew by because of all the things we made up to pass the time, the music, the guessing game (come on – Winnie the Pooh). It was really legendary and I hope that I will experience that again and not only the bus ride, the whole weekend.

Cool people and romanians in Tallinn or Tallinn Open 2008 pt.1 märts 16, 2008

Rubriigid: Imedemaa, Pidune, debate — Hannes @ 8:29 p.l.

Hello again infidels! It’s your favourite blogger here posting again over such a tremendous period of time that even Meeli complained already. So this time I’m going to post in English for a very simple reason, which is, that this way, everybody who was at the event could understand it. Well I’m going to start off with the previous weekend, when the event, Tallinn Open 2008, which me and Kari organised, took place.

Well, what can I say, it came out quite nicely, so to say. The first people who arrived were the Romanians and they decided to do it on Wednesday and then came the Lithuanians and finally, everybody else, including our favourite people in Central Europe – the Austrians, with whom me and Kari had hung out in Rome in November. So basically, the first thing we did with the Austrians, we took them shopping, during which I misunderstood Sonja. She said she wanted to buy tights (you know the stocking like things) and I thought she wanted the kind that professional wrestlers wear. Also, Robert needed a T-shirt, as some cans of beer had exploded in his suitcase and most of his clothes were ruined. Then me and Karl took them eating and during the dinner we managed to explain that we feel the same way about russians as they do with Turks and after the dinner we went to enjoy a nice beer on Harju Hill.

The evening for me was full of organising and meetings, up to 8 o’clock, when we all headed towards a pub, The Lost Continent to be precise in which we had quite a bit of fun, especially when we taught all of them stupid things to say in Estonian. The highlights were “Minu noku nimi on väike Toomas” and “Üks voor nussi palun” not to talk about the sentence the Austrians had already memorised in Rome: “Tere! Sul on ilusad rinnad. Mul on vaba öhtu (that’s how they pronounced it) , kas sa magaksid minuga”. To be honest, I hadn’t laughed so much in a very long time. Well, the evening ended with Kari chasing Constantin, when Karl taught Constantin to say something about Kari’s family.

“Tere! Sul on ilusad rinnad. Mul on vaba öhtu, kas sa mogaksid minuga?”

The next morning started on a high, though I had slept only some 4 hours during the last 3 days, which meant that I was running solely on Red Bull. We started with back-to-back wins against Pixi and some Romanian team after which we had kind of a slump. We lost to suchany Slovakia and the best part of it was that I held the worst speech of my life in front of a judge, who later turned out to be Tajo’s sister (to those, who don’t know, Tajo is the person responsible for putting together a team for the world championships), so it was quite devastating to me, but it could still get worse and actually it did as we also lost the next round and here’s the kicker, we lost it to the Austrians, who hadn’t ever debated before coming to Tallinn. So we ended the day on a sad note and thought of withdrawing from the competition.

The party was okay, I suppose, but it seemed, that most of the people were quite tired and didn’t fancy socialising that much, although Jaanus, our chief adjudicator tried to get them going. I tried to talk a very pretty Slovak girl into staying, but she had quite a dominating male team-mate, who forced her to leave. So by some 12:30 I was sitting alone with Karl and Martin in the sitting area and having a cold one. I was enjoying myself: the music, the beverage, the peace

– it was just so me.

Well the last day started out quite nicely, no hangover whatsoever, but in 15 minutes or so, Joonatan called and said that he was quite ill and couldn’t make it to the final day. Well first of all, we couldn’t do nothing but silently accept his story as he had got out of the hospital just on Friday. Secondly, I found it pretty ironic, that after the thoughts of the previous night this sort of thing would force us to abandon the competition, but there was no other way.
The incident with Joonatan meant that me and Marie went on to become judges and during the final preliminary round we were privileged to hear a debate with awful English and awful content. Then came the quarters, into which Arroganto go instead of Invicta and then the semis. During the last rounds the tiredness was really getting a hold on me and mainly due to this, even though I managed to get to the Town Hall, I slept through the final, which was won by the Logical Oxymoron by the way.
I ended up with a sauna cap and an extremely stilish debating society bag and so did Kari. We got awsome diplomas, WHICH THANKED US FOR HELPING THE SOCIETY ORGANISE THE EVENT. Well, in my defence, it sounded worse in Estonian, but never mind. A sence of happiness came over us: we had done it, the event that cost us oh so many nervecells and now it was my time to rest. I went home, fell on my bed and slept some 14 hours in a row, thus missing the last night out with the Austrians, but oh well, Läll was with them and from what I’ve heard, they really liked him.

The next morning I went to see the Austrians off, giving them a bottle of Laua Viin to take with them to Austria. It was really really really nice seeing old pals and I promise, it won’t be the last time – me, Kari and Läll are certainly going to go to Austria sometime.

Well this was about it with the tournament. Except for the fact that the romanians managed to turn the hostel upside down, vomit everywhere (including on the pillow-cases) and take the sheets with them. Well done, this certainly shows the level of you, if not even your country, which I so avidly protected in the first few days.

Sooo… the next thing for me and Invicta is the 3rd round of the debating championships and as we found out, there is quite a good chance for us to get the title, as we currently hold a quarter final spot. So we’re preparing and it’s going quite nicely. The case is going to be miraculous.
The disturbing fact is that me, Kari and Joonatan are going to go to Helsinki the day after the championships and thus we’re going to miss some lessons. That is bad, if not to say oh so bad.

Well, I’ll promise to start writing more frequently again, until then, take care

forty, ehk 40 mõtet pühapäevast ja esmaspäevast November 19, 2007

Rubriigid: Imedemaa, Pidune, debate, die Schule — Hannes @ 11:51 e.l.

Tere tere armas rahvas! Samuti võtsime me tahetud 4 võitu viiest väitlusest. Seega igati tore väitlusüritus, piinama võib-olla jääb ainult fakt, et jäime spiikritega poolfinaalist NAPILT välja.

Kommentaar 1 : Invicta on hea tiim

Kommentaar 2 : Marie bitšib, kuna ma kasutan viisi, kus ma kirjutan oma kõik mõtted üles. Ta lubas mulle just kallale tulla.

Kommentaar 6 : Püssikas on mõttetu 60 aastaste tšikkide koht

Kommentaar 7 : Ikkagi, Arroganto on liiga õhku täis läinud, being good is nice, being assoles is not.

Kommentaar 9 : Karli jaoks seletan: Elas kord väike poiss Martin. Little did he know, that this isn’t unfortunately the best way to sweet-talk a lady. Niisiis jäi poisile igaveseks meelde rida Enrique Iglesiase laulust : „You can take my breath away“

Kommentaar 10 : Marie on suutnud mu vasaku käe löömisega ära tuimestada. Thanks :P

Kommentaar 16 : Jalaseks on lahe :D

Kommentaar 17 : Martin ei saa ikka pihta :) No, ega aru saamine ei olegi iga mehe jaoks, too bad.

Kommentaar 18 : Joonatan skooris samuti.

Too bad Jon!

Kommentaar 21 : Ida-Timoris seksivad konnad endiselt edasi

Merka on mõõdukas tujus.

Kommentaar 27 : Kari ja Lardo saavad kokku ühe hinde. Miks on kaks kõnepuudega inimest ühes pingis?

Kommentaar 28 : Merka on kurb, sest me ei toonud Petšorini kohta näiteid. Me selgitasime väiteid.

Kommentaar 32 : Ma sain selle töö just kolme kolme miinusega. Oh Yeah!

Kommentaar 33 : Ka vihik tuli kolm kolme miinusega. Woot! Kuigi vihik oleks võinud parem hinne
tulla ning ta oli ka paremat väärt. Aga oh well.

Kommentaar 34 : Nüüd loeme me kirjandust Prosper Mérimeélt. Kirjandus on üldiselt utterly boring.

Kommentaar 35 : Tartu kohta veel midagi. Hmm… Kaspar on imelik noh.

Kommentaar 37 : Matteo Falcone on isegi üsna huvitav. Aga väga lambine :D

Kommentaar 38: Kuna me jäime poolfinaalist välja ainult spiikerpunktidega, siis hakkame tööle just selle valdkonna parandamise juures.

Kommentaar 40 : Karil on ikka teisipäev :D

tadaa…

Umbrella, ehk hea muusika elab siiski ! oktoober 31, 2007

Rubriigid: Pidune — Hannes @ 7:43 p.l.

Oi jah, kallid lugejad.

Esiteks, vaheaeg on lahe lihtsalt.

Kolmandaks, teile te üksikud sellised naised: kogu aeg kojuminekust vingumine pole seksikas, vaid äärmine turnoff.

Kuhu kurat see üldse sai ?

Kuuendaks on viimase sajandi kõige kõvem muusikapala.
